Mid Life Crisis?

Not sure.... but we are now the proud owners of a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. Kirk got the "bug" a month or so ago, and has been actively seeking a jeep ever since. I told someone that if this was a mid-life crisis, I was glad he was looking for a jeep and not a new wife like some guys do. He started looking at $4,000 CJ's but then test drove a Wrangler and found the ride to be much better. So the price immediately went up. We looked all over Richfield and found one that he liked, but we decided to make a trip to SLC this weekend - multipurpose - celebrate my birthday, have a get-away and of course, look for a jeep. I think looking for the jeep ended up being top priority, but that was okay. We started looking in Gunnison and actually found a 2001 that was in pretty good shape and we felt like not too bad of a price. But, we had a few we had found on KSL.com that we wanted to check out. The ones we looked at ended up being "junk" and we were a little discouraged. After a stop at "Camping World" for RV supplies and then to "Sweet Tomatoes" for lunch, we went to our motel to check in. Our motel just happened to be by the Sandy Auto Mall, so you guessed it, we went to look for jeeps. That ended up being a two to three hour ordeal. After some searching our salesman found a 2003 Wrangler X that looked like it might be a great deal, but we were feeling a little pressure - no - A LOT of pressure from the sales manager and neither one of us felt good enough to sign the papers and told them we wanted to think about it. By this time it was 6:00 pm and they said they were open until 10:00. We went back to the motel and I got on the Internet once more to check out KSL.com (increasing the $$$ value since we were looking at newer models). The first one that popped up was a brand new post that was a 2004 Wrangler Sport with half the miles, more extras, and a much better price than the one we looked at earlier at Larry Miller's. We got excited & called the guy in Kaysville. Luckily, he said if we came right then he would meet us, but he had a meeting to get to in Ogden at 8:00. WOW - quick trip! He told us there was another guy that had called him on it earlier in the day, but he hadn't shown up yet. We met him at 7:00 at the 7-11 in Kaysville and both of us knew instantly that we wanted that jeep. It was perfect! Excellent condition, lots of extras, and a much better price - even cheaper than the 2001 in Gunnison. When Mark (the dealer) got out of the jeep, he was on his cell phone and it was actually the guy who had called him earlier wanting the jeep. Whew! He was a talker - it was fun just listenening to him. He told us we were really lucky to get away from the "Pit Bulls" at Larry Miller's dealerships with our lives still intact. That made us laugh, because that is sort of how we felt. We just felt like everything worked out so good and that it was meant to be - sounds weird, but that was how we felt. We told him it was "sold" but he had to hurry to a meeting and couldn't get with us until today to final everything up. As I am posting this, we are actually waiting in our motel room to meet up with him at noon to sign the paperwork. We are both excited, but Kirk especially - he has wanted a jeep for many years. One bad thing for Kirk - it is an automatic, which means that I will get to drive it too! YAHOO!
