In Our Prayers

We had a little bad news this week... Grandpa Don (Dad) has some problems with his aorta valve and it will require open heart surgery to fix it. A tenative date for surgery is May 1. Our hearts are sad that he has to endure such a painful surgery when he is still trying to recover from his accident on New Year's Eve. But, we have faith in our loving Father in Heaven and know that he will be watched over and that everything will work out the way it is supposed to. We love this great man - for his example of honesty, strength, and hard work, and so many more qualities. He loves his family more than anything else on earth. He has a great attitude and faces every challenge with such courage. We ask for everyone's prayers in his behalf over the next few weeks as he faces this latest challenge. I found this poem and thought it describes him so perfectly. (For the grandkids, just replace Dad with Grandpa)
God took the strength of a mountain,The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... "DAD!"
