Grandpa Don had his cardio angiogram at 1:30 and what normally takes about an hour, took two. Then instead of 2 hours in recovery, he was almost 5 hrs in recovery. He is pretty wiped out, but doing okay. He has one artery that may require a bypass in addition to the aorta valve replacement, so it will be a pretty serious surgery. Due to his history and the things going on with his health, they have determined that they want two heart surgeons to operate on him. They only have 3 heart surgeons in St George - one is on vacation and one just recently had a knee replacement. So, they will not operate until first thing Monday morning. I thought about going back home to work for a couple of days, but it would be really hard to leave as all of the siblings are here together for the first time in almost five years. Steven, Barbie, and Brandon arrived late tonight, but I haven't seen them yet. Grandma Carol was exhausted so I left the hospital to take her home before Steven arrived. We have decided, as a family, that there are some things we would like to take care of at mom and dad's home while we are all together. In addition, we want to spend as much time as possible with grandpa in the next few days, as we really feel like his risks are pretty high with this surgery. We are thinking positive thoughts, praying, and have faith that things will be okay. The weather is beautiful - I am really enjoying the warm days. It is good to be with family - just wish it were under different circumstances.
